Candle Care
At Hearth & Hollow, each candle is carefully handcrafted to bring warmth and light into your home. Following a few simple care steps will help your candle burn beautifully and safely.
First Burn Matters
The first time you light your candle, allow it to burn until the wax melts evenly across the entire surface of the jar.
This usually takes 2–3 hours.
Allowing the wax to fully pool on the first burn helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
Trim the Wick
Before each burn, trim the wick to ¼ inch.
Keeping the wick trimmed helps:
• Prevent soot
• Maintain a steady flame
• Extend the life of your candle
A wick trimmer or small scissors works well.
Burn Time
For best results, burn your candle no longer than 3–4 hours at a time.
Allow the candle to cool before relighting.
Keep the Wax Clean
Keep the wax pool free of:
• Wick trimmings
• Matches
• Dust or debris
This helps maintain a clean and safe burn.
Candle Safety
Always burn candles:
• Within sight
• Away from drafts
• Away from children and pets
• On a heat-resistant surface
Never burn a candle all the way down. Discontinue use when about ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom.
A Final Thought
Candles are meant to slow the moment.
Whether lighting a quiet morning, gathering around the table, or marking the close of day, we hope your Hearth & Hollow candle brings warmth, peace, and enduring light into your home.
